Elon Musk’s xAI venture to raise $1 billion in equity funding

According to a recent filing, ELON Musk‘s artificial intelligence (AI) startup, xAI, is looking to raise $1 billion from equity investors.

According to a document Musk filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission on Tuesday, December 5, he has already raised almost $135 million. The document does not include the names of the investors. Axios first covered the filing.

Earlier this year, Musk founded xAI in an effort to take on rival generative AI firms, such as OpenAI, of which he was a co-founder. One product, a chatbot named Grok, which was trained using data from Musk’s own social network X, has been released by the company. According to the company website, it is “designed to answer questions with a bit of wit and has a rebellious streak.”

In November, Musk said that equity investors in X, formerly called Twitter, will own 25 per cent of xAI. He also said that users of the social network who sign up for Premium+, a subscription priced starting at US$16 per month in the US, will get access to Grok.

Musk has frequently and publicly criticised OpenAI, the highest-profile AI startup and developer of ChatGPT, since he left its board in 2018, especially after it created a for-profit arm the following year. He has said he believes it to be “effectively controlled by Microsoft”. Microsoft has invested some US$13 billion into OpenAI.

Despite his work in AI, Musk has expressed deep reservations about the technology. The billionaire was among a group of researchers and tech industry leaders who in March called for developers to pause the training of powerful AI models.

Other attempts at creating female characters have been made for the online version, limited editions, and spinoffs.

However, GTA VI has historically been a man-led franchise, which helps to explain why the trailer’s confirmation of the game’s central female character set the internet on fire.

Xiaomi 14 Ultra Camera Specs Leaked

Xiaomi’s Ultra flagships, which would have competed with the best Android flagships, are largely lost on the public. For example, the global release of the Xiaomi 13 Ultra and Xiaomi 12S Ultra was limited. Although an official announcement regarding the global launch of the Xiaomi 14 and 14 Pro has not yet been made, they have been released in China.

Xiaomi is still moving forward, though, as the Xiaomi 14 Ultra‘s specifications have surfaced and they provide insight into what to anticipate from the device’s cameras.

The camera specifications of an unidentified flagship—which we firmly believe to be the Xiaomi 14 Ultra—have been discussed on Leaker Digital Chat Station.

Based on our assumptions, we anticipate that the Xiaomi 14 Ultra will have four 50MP rear cameras, just like the Xiaomi 13 Ultra. The primary camera would now use a variable aperture, ranging from f/1.6 to f/4.0, which would be a significant change. This would be a major improvement over the dual aperture options of f/1.9 or f/4.0 on the Xiaomi 13 Ultra and comparable to the f/1.42 to f/4.0 range on the Xiaomi 14 Pro.

Additionally, the leaker Digital Chat Station states in a different post that the camera’s native focal lengths will be 0.5x, 1x, 3.2x, and 5x.

Xiaomi 14 Pro Camera

Given that several prototypes for the Xiaomi 14 Ultra are undergoing testing, it is possible that the device will be distinct in that it will have a glass body. This gives consumers who desire an alternative back material some hope, but it does not rule out the possibility of a plastic-leather back. To put this in perspective, the Xiaomi 13 Ultra is available in six distinct colors, all of which feature a plastic leather back.

We currently don’t have any more information about the Xiaomi 14 Ultra.
