MediaTek To Reveal The Q4 Dimensity 9400 Chipset
According to CEO Rick Tsai (锡力行), MediaTek Inc. (遯發科), a manufacturer of smartphone chips, plans to launch its next-generation Dimensity 9400 chipset in the fourth quarter of this year to support artificial intelligence (AI) applications.
Speaking during a groundbreaking ceremony for MediaTek’s office building near the Hsinchu High Speed Rail station, Tsai stated that the product, the Dimensity 9300 chipset, which was introduced in early November 2022, was a success and received positive feedback from a number of customers.
According to him, MediaTek is certain that the next Dimensity 9400 will surpass the Dimensity 9300 and bring the business to yet another sales peak.

He also mentioned that the introduction of the Dimensity 9400 will fit into a growing trend of smartphones coming with AI apps.
Tsai Ming-kai (蔡明介), the chairman of MediaTek, commented on the construction of the new office building in Hsinchu, saying that the investment demonstrates the company’s dedication to Taiwan’s IC design industry as well as its faith in the country’s technological advancement.
As part of the company’s attempts to increase its talent pool, he said, the office building, which will have 12 levels above ground and 5 floors below, is slated to be completed in 2027 and house 3,000 employees.
He continued by saying that Taiwan’s semiconductor sector has to invest more in R&D and talent development.
Attending the groundbreaking ceremony, Vice Premier Cheng Wen-tsan (愭文燠) declared that the government would keep supporting the local IC design business wholeheartedly.
The goal of the five-year Taiwan Chip-based Industrial Innovation Program (晶片驅動台灣產業創新方案) is to increase Taiwan’s IC design industry’s output from 20 percent to 40 percent of the world market in the next ten years.
According to Cheng, MediaTek’s new office building is a good sign of Taiwan’s investment climate and is well located for both north and southward traffic.
Cheng praised MediaTek as a pioneer in the local IC business and stated that he thought the new building will become an excellent research and development base. MediaTek is ranked among the top 10 IC designers worldwide.
According to Taipei-based TrendForce Corp (集邦科技), MediaTek was ranked as the fifth-largest IC designer in the world in the third quarter of last year. Other Taiwanese companies, including Realtek Semiconductor Corp (瑞昱), which ranked eighth, and Novatek Microelectronics Corp (聯詠), which specialized in design of display drivers and communications network ICs, ranked seventh and eighth, respectively.
